IMDb

Review: Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a bipolar film: in one hand, it is a film which, for its argument and history, can’t produce the same effect nowadays as in 70’s, being a film that has been affected by the years going past, to the point that in some aspects seems an expired product. However, in the other hand, that lack is compensated by its impressive special effects and especially for the seriousness with which Steven Spielberg talks about the UFOs. Thanks to this seriousness and sobriety, his speech sounds interesting, credible, and makes the film become something more than the typical terrestrial versus extraterrestrial plot. In any case, it is an interesting film. (Watuzee)
